FIRST-VISIT INTELLIGENCE

Small moves that make Akihabara easier.

The district is dense, vertical and full of small specialist stores. These four details save the most time and friction.

出口

Start at the Electric Town Exit

JR’s Central and Electric Town gates lead to different sides. Use Electric Town for hobby shops; Central for Yodobashi and the east side.

Work down, not up

Akihabara shops often stack categories vertically. Take the lift to the top, then browse down floor by floor to save energy and miss less.

¥

Bring your original passport

Tax-free eligibility, minimum spend and packaging rules vary by store. Carry the original passport; a photo or copy may not be accepted.

Ask before photos

Some stores prohibit indoor or close-up product photography. Keep aisles clear and ask staff before shooting—especially in small specialist shops.
